Two local organizations are pitching-in to help support dairy farmers & residents of the region.
CP Feeds, LLC and Country Visions Cooperative have teamed-up with some of their supply partners to donate $50,000 of dairy products to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
Pallet shipments of butter & cottage cheese will be donated to provide ongoing support of much-needed food to the area, as well as support dairy producers & the dairy industry’s supply chain. Jim Loefer, General Manager of CP Feeds, said “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on all of our lives. Businesses that were non essential, their employees & those part of their supply chain, including our dairy producers were among the hardest hit. We hope this donation helps provide those in need with wholesome dairy products.” Steve Zutz, CEO of Country Visions Cooperative, said in part “As a farmer owned co-op we are honored to be supporting our dairy (producers) & those facing hunger during these tough times in eastern Wisconsin.”
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin began picking up pallets of butter on a biweekly schedule from Pine River Dairy on English Lake Road, Manitowoc last month. A supply of cottage cheese from Westby Co-op Creamery is pretty much on the same schedule. The donation includes more than 12-hundred soft sided coolers for the food pantries to use for distributing the products.
