Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu
A local legislator calls the rioting and violence in Madison this week “inexcusable”.
Ninth District State Senator Devin LeMahieu says peaceful protests are fundamental to our republic but the Oostburg Republican representing Central and Southern Manitowoc County, says these violent riots cannot be tolerated.
He said “Governor Tony Evers has the duty to protect our beautiful Wisconsin State Capitol. They mayor of Madison can NOT be afraid to use Madison Police to protect law abiding citizens and their property. The time for excuses is over. Law enforcement needs to be allowed to preserve public safety, and the rioters responsible for this violence and destruction MUST be held accountable.”
Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway says those responsible will be held accountable but no arrests have yet to be made.
Meanwhile-Seventh District Congressman Tom Tiffany is calling for Governor Evers to resign. The Hazelhurst Republican claims the Governor has done nothing about the looting-mayhem adding that public officials who refuse to stand up against those seeking to destabilize and destroy institutions should resign.
