While their home may have been destroyed, two Green Bay residents were able to escape without injury as their house caught fire Thursday night.
Fire crews were called to the home in the 1400 block of Emilie Street to find flames engulfing the back side of the residence. While they were able to quickly extinguish the flames, it had already spread to the basement, and affected the first and second floors.
The residents of the home have been displaced, and will now be living with relatives as repairs are made.
According to fire officials, the $80,000 in damage was caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.
