
Bail Update: Bail was set at $500 cash for 31-year-old Manitowoc Edwin Guzman-Galarza. He is charged with criminal damage to property and three counts of bail jumping, two of which are felonies. Conditions of bail are that Guzman-Galarza have “no contact with his mother or homeowner and report to MPD for photos and prints plus provide a “valid address” within 24 hours of release. He remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for July 6th at 1:30.
A Manitowoc man who has had multiple run ins with police is back in the Manitowoc County Jail after damaging his mother’s residence.
Police were dispatched to the home in the 2000 block of Hamilton Street at around 5:30 Thursday morning to address the situation. When they arrived, the female resident told officers she was awakened by the sound of pounding on the front door, which ended up being her son.
She saw that a window was broken and called police, since he was not allowed to be at the residence. The 31 year old man admitted to breaking the glass, saying he did it on purpose because his mom wouldn’t feed him.
According to the police report, he then told the officer that if his mother wouldn’t feed him, he wanted to be taken to jail so he could have a place to eat. He also said he was tired of sleeping out on the streets.
He is facing charges of Criminal Damage to Property, and three counts of Bail Jumping, two of which are felony counts.
