The players’ union has informed Major League Baseball its members will report for the resumption of spring training July 1st.
The union actually rejected the last offer from owners, leading Commission Rob Manfred to mandate the start of the season on July 24th.
There will be some major changes meaning this won’t be like past seasons.
For one, all teams will have a designated hitter in the lineup. Regional play will be featured to limit travel, meaning the Milwaukee Brewers will continue to play opponents from the National League Central Division, like the Cubs, but they will also meet teams from the American League Central Division, like the Detroit Tigers.
The playoffs will only include 10 teams – not the 16 the owners wanted.
