Two people have been taken into police custody after a car was set on fire.
The fire was reported to emergency personnel just before 1:30 AM last Monday, with the vehicle located in the 900 block of North 11th Street.
Through an investigation, Manitowoc Police discovered that a woman who had retrieved a child seat from the vehicle, which hadn’t been moved in quite some time, reportedly sold fake cocaine to a woman in St. Nazianz, who allegedly retaliated by starting the car on fire.
It appears that the arsonist believed the vehicle belonged to the woman who sold her the fake cocaine.
Both the person who bought the fake cocaine and her daughter were arrested for starting the fire, with the 61 year old mother being charged with Arson and Damage to Property, and the 33 year old daughter is facing the same charges, only as party to the crime.
