The N-C-A-A Board of Governors has expanded its policy, meaning no championship events can be played in Mississippi.
Specifically, the policy rules out playing title games in states where the Confederate flag has a “prominent presence.”
As the policy is worded now, Mississippi is the only state that would be affected, as the state flag features the Confederate symbol prominently.
University leaders at Ole Miss and Mississippi State have repeated their support for changing the state flag.
The new N-C-A-A policy was revealed last Friday – the day for the observance of Juneteenth, which commemorates the ending of slavery in the U-S.
