Dane County is working with the Second Harvest food bank during the coronavirus pandemic. Second Harvest handles the distribution of food after working directly with local farmers. The county board of supervisors approved the extension of an existing contract with the food bank last week. The county routes funding to Second Harvest from the federal CARES Act. The food bank gets one-million dollars-a-month through October to help cover the cost of getting free food to families in need during the outbreak.
