Neshotah Beach in Two Rivers has been “the place to be” to beat the inland heat. Jared Rohrer, Parks Director in the Cool City says, “People are parking two blocks away. I can tell you that people are taking advantage of the beautiful weather. As far as social distancing, we are trying to enforce it but we can’t police it so we have our proper signage up for it.”
Rohrer says, even though the high water level of Lake Michigan has ‘taken its’ toll’, there’s still plenty of beach. “In front of our rotary pavilion right now, on a calm day there’s probably 50 to 70 feet of beach front. Normally we would have about 100 to 125 feet of beach front. There is still a lot of beach front there.”
The Parks Director explains that visitors are coming to the lakeshore from miles away, “We actually had a couple that was from Oshkosh the other day. Mr. Buckley himself went and talked to them for a little bit. They just came to enjoy the beautiful views of our beach. I personally have been down there and have seen a lot of people wearing shirts from Appleton East, De Pere Red Birds…it seems like a lot of people from Brown County have been coming to our area now.”
Neshotah is billed as the “best beach in Wisconsin” and Rohrer added, “I believe it is…..If you get the chance to come down (to the shoreline) early in the morning to see the sunrise, with all the colors….it’s priceless.”
