The latest offer from the Major League Baseball Players Association would have the Milwaukee Brewers playing 70 games this summer.
The union made that counter-offer the day it received the owners’ proposal for 60 games. The back-and-forth has been going on for several weeks now.
The players’ plan would start the season on July 19th. It calls for a 50-50 split of new post-season television revenue next year, the universal D-H and 50 million dollars in playoff bonuses.
Owners aren’t expected to accept the specifics of the deal, but E-S-P-N says the difference between the two sides is so small now there should be optimism a season will be played.
