The Kiel Community Picnic Committee has decided that due to concerns over the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Community Picnic had to be canceled.
In a Facebook post, the committee stated, “There was a lot of discussion among our committee, which is comprised of members of the Kiel Lions and Kiel Optimist Clubs. Many factors were considered, and this decision does not come easy. We have been preparing for this event the for the last 10 months, and lots of legwork was committed to our festival.”
They also noted that 40% of the members of the committee are in the age range that is most likely to be affected by the coronavirus.
A date for next year’s picnic has already been announced however. That event will take place August 12th through the 15th, 2021.
