
The Manitowoc Bandits started fast and cruised to a 9-nothing victory over the Branch Blaze at Firefighters Park last night.
The Bandits, now 2-and-1 this season after their 2nd win over the Blaze in less than a week, jumped off to a 3-nothing lead in the first inning.
Coach Chris Cisler’s team tacked-on 2-more runs in the third, 3-in the 6th and one more in the 7th. Starting pitcher Earl Vorpagel worked the first 6-innings, allowing 3-hits & a walk with 7-strikeouts.
Noah Jacquart finished the combined shutout striking out 6 & giving up 2-hits the rest of the way. Vorpagel helped his own cause at the plate going 3-for-5 with an RBI & run scored. Shad Hintz added 3-hits, including a double & 2-runs scored, Robert Shimek was also 3-for-5 with a double & 2-RBI, Adam Diedrich added 2-hits while knocking in a pair of runs, and Chris Rohr went 2-for-5 with a run scored.
The Bandits continue Shoreland League baseball action tomorrow night when they travel to play the Denmark Devilbears in a 7:30 start.
