A former student in the Baraboo School District wants it to ban the confederate flag and consider changes to the way it teachers black history.
Dasia Banks sued the district in January after she says racism complaints got no response. She now attends a high school in Madison.
Banks says she believes a lot of what she saw in Baraboo is the result of students being taught very little about black history.
Banks says she was called a “cotton picker” and the “n-word” on multiple occasions and no one would listen when she told classmates how that made her feel.
Her lawyer says the federal lawsuit is still in the discovery phase.
