The owner of Strand Adventures in Manitowoc, Mike Howe says, “It’s been a long time coming, but everything has been cleaned up and ready to go.”
He told SeehaferNews.com that after three months of being required to shut down, they are now back in action. Even though they were closed, the team at Strand Adventures did not sit around and do nothing.
“We brought in staff as needed to continue our cleaning.” Howe explained. “We decided at that time to upgrade our rock climbing wall, some ninja stuff, and do a little maintenance and painting and really keep it fresh.”
As for what they did to the rock climbing walls at the indoor adventure park, the local builder said “We re-changed up all the routes on the rock climbing wall, added some new vibrant colors on there, and switched from ropes to belays in a few spots. It’s just a new feel for the climbers.”
Howe said his employees have been itching to get back into the former Strand Theater building, and to host parties and people of all ages. He called it a bit of a transition, but “everybody’s been trained for, if you want to call it the new ‘New Normal’, that’s what it is.”
There are a few different ways they are changing the way they do things, including having hand sanitizer available, and reducing the number of people they are allowing in at a time.
The COVID-19 pandemic has also impacted the business in another way. Howe had been preparing to add a new attraction to the business, but was not at liberty to explain any further. The shutdown put him back as far as the money is concerned, so that project may be coming later.
Strand Adventures, located on the South East corner of North 8th and Chicago Streets, is open during their normal business hours, and are planning on offering summer classes.
