There was a Senior Recognition event for Lincoln High School Track & Field yesterday afternoon with social distancing in mind. A total of 11 Ships seniors, who like others across the country were sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic, were recognized individually on the track at Rubick Municipal Athletic Field. Masks were worn by all during the program that was organized by Head Boys and Girls Track & Field Coach, Ryan Schroeder & his assistant coaches. As one of those assistants, Vance Higdon, wrote in part, “Perhaps, if we look we might see, somehow, there is a kind of strange fairness about this season. The baton might be a symbol for the fact that we have all been involved in this one EVENT. The entire TEAM has faced the START of the season then the RESTRICTIONS, and now the FINISH.”
