One week after a successful peaceful march through downtown Manitowoc, local activists for the Black Lives Matter movement are hosting a Community BBQ at Washington Park on Saturday, June 6.
While speaking at the Vigil for Hope on Wednesday, Keysha Cavitt spoke about the event, explaining that there will be “free food, and a good time. It’s basically just to show the community that we’re all here in this time to love and support each other…It’s not just about one person, it’s about all of us coming together as one.”
Jay Meeks reiterated the free aspect of the event which will begin at 1:00 PM, explaining that they are not looking for any donations.
This will be the third Black Lives Matter event in Manitowoc in the past week, all of which have the goal of raising awareness of the struggles the black community is facing while doing so in a peaceful manner.
