A Tuesday morning accident forced the evacuation of people living near ProVision Partners in Clark County at about 7:36 a-m.
A 9-1-1 caller reported hearing a loud noise, then seeing smoke coming from the top of an elevator. Bulk, dry fertilizer was being offloaded from a railroad car into a tractor-trailer truck at the time.
Central Fire and E-M-S responded along with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The hazardous material was cleaned up, the elevator restarted and nearby residents were allowed to return home about three hours later.
No injuries were reported.
