Manitowoc County’s future community-owned food cooperative is close to naming its’ final site choice.
According to a news release, owners of the Clipper City Co-op met virtually on Sunday for their annual meeting. In addition to elections & approval of bylaw changes, owners received an update on site selection from Vice-President & Site Selection Committee Chair, Tony Fodden.
He stated they’ve seriously evaluated dozens of locations over the past few years in an effort to find the best downtown Manitowoc location. Fodden explained the Co-op has “identified two finalist locations and are in active negotiations with the parties involved.”
He added “We are very hopeful (of being able) to make a final site announcement in the very near future.” He says a community-wide capital campaign will begin shortly, to fund the physical building remodeling needs of the store.
They’ll also conduct a national, comprehensive search for a general manager soon.
The Clipper City Co-op has 802 owner members.
