Steven Avery has contracted the COVID-19 virus. His current attorney Kathleen Zellner tweeted Wednesday that her client has the disease. Avery’s former attorney Jerome Buting tweeted that Avery caught the virus while in prison.
Offender records show that he is serving a life sentence at the Waupun Correctional Institution for the October 31st 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach at the Avery Family Auto Salvage Yard near Mishicot. Buting says that Avery is reportedly doing well and has been confined to his cell in quarantine.
As of last Friday, 184 inmates at that facility have tested positive for COVID-19. State Health Officials said that as of today the state has seen 19,400 confirmed positive cases and 616 deaths.
Steven Avery has tested positive for COVID-19, and is confined to his cell. But @SandyGreenman reports he only had short-lived symptoms & is in good spirits. 🙏🏼 for speedy recovery and quick justice. #FreeStevenAvery
