The Prairie Dog Exhibit is back this summer at the Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo, thanks in large part to a local businessman and zoo supporter’s family. Curt Hall, Park & Recreation Division Manager, tells SeehaferNews.com that this is great because the exhibit was empty in 2019. He said, “We worked with a local zoo and acquired a couple of new residents this spring. We do have three new prairie dogs on exhibit.” Hall said they were bought thanks to the donation provided by the Fricke family, in honor of Bob Fricke. “Bob has contributed to the prairie dog exhibit in the past,” Hall explained. “Through the Fricke family and the support of the Zoological society, we wouldn’t be able to provide these experiences for the public without their support…We really appreciate it.”
As a reminder, the Lincoln Park Zoo has newly-adjusted hours to visit the animals 9-to-5 every day, with no admission fee, but a suggested donation.
The Big Red Barn is closed for the season while the Education building is shut down until further notice, and educational programs for the month of June are canceled due to social distancing concerns.
