Officials in Door County are asking the state for help repairing lakeshore erosion damage in the Town of Clay Banks.
Part of South Lake Michigan Drive had cones blocking the shoulder as of Thursday morning. About two feet from the edge of the road was a five-foot dropoff to the shoreline below.
Local residents say rising lake levels are causing big problems and the U-S Army Corps of Engineers is projecting another two-inch rise in June.
The Town of Clay Banks would be reimbursed through the Wisconsin Disaster Fund.
