“We’re thrilled to reopen on June 1st at 5 am.” That comment from Joe Metzen, Associate Executive Director for the Manitowoc/Two Rivers YMCA. “It’s been quite some time since we’ve had the doors open and as I think the community can relate to, every day has been a bit of a moving target for us but we’re thrilled. We’ve done a ton of preparation when it comes to being able to open our doors safely and responsibly for our members.”
Metzen elaborates on those preparations “Anywhere from encouraging the use of facemasks to extensive cleaning protocol and making sure that we’re still providing the type of programs that our Y members and the community expects from us.”
Metzen adds, “Come ready to do your workout and bring your patience,” because as he put it, “this is new for us (too) with the new normal.”
In the YMCA Newsletter Members are given specifics on what phase one of opening will look like. A portion of the Newsletter reads, “To make sure we’re all on the same page with what our first phase of re-opening looks like, we are asking all members to sign a COVID Reopening -specific Code of Conduct before your first use of the Y. Each “head of household” will be asked to read and sign on behalf of everyone on the membership. Please head to www.mtrymca.org and click on the MEMBER UPDATE graphic to read and sign electronically.”
Child care will be available to kids ages infant—5th grade beginning June 1, from 7:30-4:30. At this time (and subject to change), all other Y youth programs will begin in July, with registration beginning on June 15 for members.
