The American Red Cross Wisconsin Chapter says they have an urgent need for blood donations to prevent another shortage, as hospitals resume surgical procedures following a pause due to COVID-19.
In recent weeks, hospital demand for blood products has grown by 30% after sharply declining in early April when blood drives were canceled as many businesses & community organizations remained closed.
Today, lakeshore area residents can help reduce the need by donating at a Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin drive at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. It’s going on between the hours of 9am and 1pm and, they welcome walk-ins and honor appointments.

All donors are required to wear a face mask as a precautionary measure.
