Unemployment numbers soared in both the City of Manitowoc and Manitowoc County last month as business shuttered, laying off employees due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Numbers released by the State Department of Workforce Development show Manitowoc having 19% of Its workforce unemployed. 3.6% were jobless in March.
Manitowoc County’s jobless rate in April was 16.2% compared to 3.6% in March.
Preliminary April 2020 unemployment rates in Wisconsin ranged from 9.9% in Fitchburg to 21.1% in Superior.
Iron and Menominee Counties recorded jobless rates of 26.2% while Lafayette County had the lowest April jobless rate at 9.7%.
The Statewide unemployment rate in April was 14.1%
