Fitchburg police evacuated an apartment building Tuesday evening after finding “potentially hazardous materials” in one unit.
Officers were conducting a welfare check on a resident at about 5:00 p-m when the discovery was made. That unnamed person was taken into protective custody.
Authorities haven’t said what the hazardous material found at the Chalet Gardens Apartments is.
People who don’t live there were asked to avoid the area until further notice.
