More details are coming to light about the departure of U-W punter-kicker Blake Wilcox – at one time rated one of the top-three high school kickers in the nation.
Wilcox says he got a call May 15th informing him he wouldn’t have a roster spot this fall. Wilcox says it wasn’t his choice, “at all.” He expected to be in the battle for the starting punting job.
Wilcox says he did take a three-week leave of absence from the program at the beginning of winter workouts in January. He says he tried to stay in touch, but it appears the Badger staff thought he might not return.
Wilcox plans to enter the transfer protocol, but also says he might just stay in Madison where he is invested academically and socially.
