Brown County Library buildings remain closed to the public but, in addition to providing access to online resources, the library is committed to offering more opportunities for safe access to books and other library materials. Beginning today the East, Southwest, Pulaski and Wrightstown branches join the Central Library and Ashwaubenon, Weyers-Hilliard and Kress Family branches as sites for contactless pickup of library materials. This additional service is part of the library’s multi-phased reopening plan.
Due to Denmark High School’s closure, the Denmark Branch will not serve as a pickup site but materials from that location can be transferred to another library for pickup.
Library patrons can schedule times to pick up library books and items requested in advance, within various limits.
Follow these simple steps to pick up materials at participating locations:
1. Place items on hold
- Search the library’s online catalog at browncountylibrary.org or call the library to place holds on the item(s) you want.
- There is a temporary limit of 10 holds per library card. If you currently have more than 10 holds on your card, please call the library to speak to a staff person.
- You will receive a notification (by email, text message, or phone depending on your account preference) letting you know that you can call to schedule pickup. Due to limited staff and delivery services, wait times will be longer than usual.
2. Call the pickup library to schedule a pickup appointment
- After you receive notification, call the pickup library to schedule a time to pick up your holds.
- Have your library card barcode number available.
3. Pick up items
- All items will be checked out and bagged ahead of time. Each bag will have your holds slip stapled to it for identification.
- Pickups at the Central Library will take place via the pickup window just past the drive-thru book drop. Enter through the library lot and follow signage.
- Pickups at all other locations (except Denmark) will take place in the location’s entryway or on a table outside the library’s main entrance.
4. Return items
- Due dates for all items have been extended to July 1. Therefore, there is no need to worry about overdue fines. Return items to an outdoor book drop except Denmark at any time. Bulky items that are too large to return through book drops are not available for contactless pickup.
- After return to a book drop, all library items will be quarantined before they are checked in. No fines will accrue during this quarantine.
- Donations are not being accepted at this time. Use book drops for library returns only.
Remember, all Brown County Library buildings are otherwise closed to the public. Restrooms, computers and other spaces are not accessible.
