The City of Two Rivers has announced that they will be releasing a Memorial Day video tribute on Monday, May 25. The City of Two Rivers said in a Facebook post, “While the COVID-19 pandemic may have canceled our traditional Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, Two Rivers never forgets.”
The tribute will first be posted for viewing at 9:00 AM, on the Two Rivers City Hall Facebook page and on the city website, www.two-rivers.org.
The tribute will include a ceremony that was held this past Wednesday, May 20, in Central Park. The ceremony featured a Two Rivers American Legion and VFW Combined Honor Guard, Two Rivers Police Department Honor Guard, and keynote speaker Major General Tim Zadalis (USAF, retired).
The tribute will also include patriotic music from the Two Rivers High School Chorus.
The City of Two Rivers Facebook page says, “A message from Patrick Dewane, grandson of Lt. Col. Matt Konop of Two Rivers, who in May 1945 led an advance party of American GI’s that liberated the ancestral home of his Czech grandparents from German occupation. Matt Konop’s WWII experience has led to Two Rivers becoming a Sister City with the Town of Domazlice in the Czech Republic.”
