The first day of the Drive Thru COVID-19 testing at the Manitowoc County Expo Grounds was deemed a big success, as a large number of people took advantage of the service.
Captain Cunningham of the Wisconsin Army National Guard says you don’t need to leave your vehicle to get tested. He explained, “You will pull in, someone will come alongside with a clipboard with information they need to get from the person about some possible symptoms, and then some personal information so they can get their information when their test comes back.”
Captain Cunningham says individuals will be administered a “nasal swab” test, but it’s not the real long swab that scares most people. “Basically it goes up your nose until it meets resistance,” he explained. “The swab is turned four times, and the whole process takes about 10 seconds.”
Up to 400 tests can be given each day with results coming back in about three to five days.
Testing continues today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. thanks to the collaborative effort of the Manitowoc County Health Department-Manitowoc County Emergency Services and the State Army National Guard.
