The Vietnam Veterans Chapter 731 will place flags at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc this Saturday morning at 9 a.m. All safety precautions will be in place and all are invited to help with placement of the flags.
Seehafer Broadcasting will broadcast a special Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. on 1240 AM and 107.9 FM WOMT. The ceremony, originating from the WOMT Studios, will include traditional musical pieces along with speeches from veterans and elected officials to honor those who paid the “ultimate price” for our freedom. The public is prohibited from attending due to safety concerns from the pandemic but you will be able to view the ceremony live on Facebook, through the City of Manitowoc and WOMT Radio Facebook pages. A reminder that the Memorial Day Parade is canceled.
In Two Rivers, a virtual Memorial Day Tribute will be released to the public. It includes a multitude of speeches including keynote speaker Major General Tim Zadalis (retired from the U.S. Air Force) and Patrick Dewane whose grandfather- Lt. Colonel Matt Konop of Two Rivers led an advance of American GI’s in Czechoslovakia during World War II that liberated his grandparents from their ancestral home. The tribute will first be posted for viewing at 9:00 AM, on the Two Rivers City Hall Facebook page and website, www.two-rivers.org.
At noon the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 731 will fire 21 rounds at Vietnam Veterans Park honoring the Two Rivers natives who died during the Vietnam War.
The Mishicot Memorial Day parade is canceled however a 21-gun salute and Taps will be played at the Mishicot Cemetery beginning at noon.
The American Legion will be displaying a 21 Gun Salute to honor our fallen soldiers at Knollwood Memorial Park at 1500 Highway 310, Manitowoc at 11:00 on Memorial Day.
