Milwaukee’s mayor is telling the police chief he wants Officer Michael Mattioli fired.
Mayor Tom Barrett says the severity of the allegations against Mattioli means he should be terminated.
The city’s Fire and Police Commission took over the investigation Tuesday.
Mattioli faces first-degree reckless homicide charges in the May 13th death of 25-year-old Joel Acevedo.
The veteran officer is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Milwaukee County Circuit Court next month.
Barrett tells Chief Alfonso Morales the city taxpayers shouldn’t be paying a salary to an individual facing such a serious charge.
