A local grocery store manager said she’s noticed changes in customer’s preferences and amounts of food they buy since this COVID-19 outbreak began 8-weeks ago.
Peggy Jeske, Manager and in charge of Human Resources at Piggly Wiggly in Manitowoc, tells SeehaferNews.com that customers have been very understanding throughout this pandemic. “There’s been a lot of shortages,” she explained. “Every department has been hit by this. Our customers seem to be understanding at this may be the new norm.”
A positive change which has occurred during the quarantine, says Jeske, is that there are more meals being prepared in the home, noting “We see more of things that have to be prepared at home, compared to the things you just take home, heat and eat. I think family life has become a bigger thing.”
The store director added prices can fluctuate and it starts at the factory or production level. She stated that they see it daily and monitor the situation as a retail business, but try to give their customers the best deal they can.
