A local lawmaker says the “human element” has been taken out of the equation when it comes to the overall care of someone who’s hospitalized during the pandemic.
Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothman takes issue with the mandate that no one-including immediate family members are allowed to visit their loved ones in the hospital.
“Some love and attention with the patient causes the patient to heal quicker,” Grothman told SeehaferNews.com. “Second, a family member is an advocate for the patient. They may see things that are right or wrong with the patient that the medical staff, who don’t know the patient, don’t see.”
Grothman adds that nearly every nurse he’s spoken with agrees with him. He acknowledges that some nurses may not agree but, “Every nurse that I have talked to feels that policy…was a mistake. That was another bad decision that was made by bureaucrats out of Washington and Madison.
Some hospitals are restarting elective surgeries for patients that were postponed due to the pandemic including Holy Family Memorial in Manitowoc and Prevea Health Care.
