The COVID-19 Pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of another sports season. Word came out Saturday that the 2020 Wisconsin American Legion Baseball schedule has been called-off.
It includes the Manitowoc Legion Post-88 team coached by Kevin Stangel.
The recommendation was made by the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Association Board of Directors by video conference last Wednesday and the Legion Department Executive Committee then made the final decision on Saturday.
It marks the first time since 1927 an American Legion Baseball champion will not be crowned.
A total of 24 other states have canceled their Legion baseball program for this summer due primarily to the health of players, coaches, umpires, parents, fans & volunteers involved in the program.
Last summer, 217 teams participated in the Badger State, making it the 4th largest program in the country.
