Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels
It’s been 7 weeks since local and state businesses and public buildings have been closed due to COVID-19.
During an interview with SeehaferNews.com, Mayor Justin Nickels said he’d like to reopen Manitowoc City Hall in the very near future, at least the clerk’s office area, “So people can still come in to pay bills and things like that.”
However, he explained that there will likely be some “new norms” people will need to get used to. Mayor Nickels said they will be trying to “limit as much human contact” as possible upon reopening.
Nickels explains that he speaks three times a week with other member mayors of the League of Municipalities and members of the Governor’s cabinet and he believes Salons, Restaurants, and Bars will start slowly reopening.
He did say, however, “It won’t be like it was. There will be restrictions on where you can go out, and how many people are allowed in certain places.”
But, the mayor emphasizes that with the threat of the coronavirus around us, we “have to take care of our citizens first and foremost.”
