Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothman recently stated that he encourages the “safe reopening” of Wisconsin hospitals and medical facilities to elective surgeries and other non-essential procedures.
“I know a lot of these hospitals were expecting maybe 20, 30, 40 patients, with COVID coming in but instead they are getting zero or one or two,” Grothman told SeehaferNews.com. “As a result, a lot of people who need very important medical procedures were told ‘You will have to wait because we are going to have dozens of patients here.’ I think it is important that we get some more accurate advice from Washington.”
Grothman is also concerned about furloughs in the medical field. He said hospitals are laying off personnel, “ because the hospitals are so empty. In part that is because of bad advice coming out of Washington, and in part because of bad advice coming out of Madison.”
Grothman also criticizes portions of Governor Evers’ “Safer at Home” Order, questioning why certain businesses were listed as essential while others were not.
The Glenbeulah Republican adds “Wisconsinites have done an outstanding job slowing the spread of COVID 19 and as it stands today many hospitals have enough room to treat COVID-19 patients. The bureaucrats in Washington in Madison should be encouraging health care providers to resume services for non COVID 19 patients.”
