A 19-year-old Sheboygan man somehow drove his vehicle into a retention pond yesterday morning.
Sheboygan Police were notified of the accident at the pond at South 32nd Street and Washington Avenue at around 7:40 AM, and when they arrived, they found the man standing on top of his vehicle. Officers threw him a flotation device and were able to drag him to safety.
The unnamed driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was treated at a local hospital for hypothermia.
The preliminary investigation determined the man had driven through the stop sign on South 32nd Street and plunged into the pond. Although the cause of this action is not yet known, investigators say it appears to be the result of a medical event.
