The COVID-19 pandemic has caused vacation trips to remain on pause for many, according to the owner/operator of the only locally owned full-service travel agency.
Kathy Schmill from David’s House of Travel tells SeehaferNews.com that the fallout from virus restrictions actually began a little bit earlier for them than everybody else.
“We had cancelations already at the end of January,” Schmill explained. “We have had to cut staff, we unfortunately are refunding, and canceling or changing a good year and a half to two years’ worth of work.”
Schmill also said “as travel agents..they don’t get paid until after their clients’ trips, so as a result they’ve been doing double & triple the work and not getting compensated from their vendors, in many cases.”
She told us David’s House of Travel recommends travelers ‘follow the guidelines from the C-D-C and D-H-S.
As for the future, Schmill stated “because no one’s been through something like this before, it’s anybody’s guess when the restrictions will be lifted.”
She remains hopeful that things will open up by Fall.
