SeehaferNews.com reported earlier this week that Holy Family Memorial is beginning to reschedule medically necessary time-sensitive procedures to meet the needs of its patients.
HFM President and CEO Brett Norell told us, “As we begin looking at…the prevalence of the disease in the community…as well as the lengthening of the Safer at Home order, we felt like we couldn’t delay any further performing medically necessary and time-sensitive procedures for our patients who truly do need them.”
Norell says HFM formed a committee of physicians reviewing all postponed surgeries with potential patients. ”They went out there and looked at information that was released by…The American Hospital Association, The American College of Surgeons, a group of anesthesiologists, as well as the Professional Organization for Nurses,” Norell explained. “They set some criteria that we were able to use.”
They determined whether patients had contact with anyone who had COVID 19-if they traveled outside of Manitowoc County within the past 14 days and if they are comfortable with their planned procedure.
Extra safety measures taken include masking both patients and staff, temperature checks of all patients and staff, and more negative pressure rooms at the hospital and Harbor Town Campus adding “This is on top of already rigorous cleaning processes.” For more information visit hfmhealth.org.
