A two-year-old child who suffered a leg wound at home in Portage is being treated at U-W Hospital.
The apparent accidental shooting happened shortly after noon Sunday. Portage police say a parent was providing medical care to the victim’s leg when officers arrived.
The firearm was taken as evidence and the child was transported to Divine Savior Hospital, then airlifted to the Madison hospital.
No names have been released and no arrests have been announced. The child is expected to survive
