A Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputy has been cleared of any “criminal wrongdoing” after a single vehicle crash that killed a man last December.
Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre says that after reviewing all the evidence she concludes that Deputy Eric Roehl acted in a manner consistent with his training as a law enforcement officer in the incident that killed Forest Springstube.
A DCI investigation stated on the morning of December 22nd of last year Deputy Roehl was attempting to stop a vehicle driven By Springstube at a high rate of speed on Highway 310 when it left the roadway and crashed. Law enforcement immediately provided medical aid to Springstube but he died at the scene from “head and neck injuries.”
Deputy Roehl was not hurt and was placed on administrative leave pending a complete investigation.
