When its latest solar facility is finally online, Dane County will be getting all of its power for its own operations from renewable sources.
The project announced by County Executive Joe Parisi should be nearly double the size of the solar facility going up at the Dane County Regional Airport.
The newest project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in an amount equal to what would come from five thousand cars.
The solar panels will be mounted in the Town of Cottage Grove, next to the county landfill.
Design work will start next year.
