Milwaukee’s so-called “SafeVote program” would mail an application for an absentee ballot to every registered voter in the city.
The Common Council gave its unanimous approval in a Tuesday vote.
Everyone in the city would also get a postage-paid envelope to use to return the application.
Council members Marina Dimitrijevic and Khalif J. Rainey were co-sponsors of the measure. Rainey calls voters ger during the April 7th election were exposed to unacceptable danger.
Mayor Tom Barrett would have to approve the idea before it can be done.
