The owner of Newton Meats says they remain open during this COVID-19 shutdown.
Karean Van Ess Wagner tells us Newton Meats is classified as an essential business-under the Governor’s Safe at Home Order. However, Van Ess Wagner, who has owned-Newton Meats since 1992, explained the operation is no longer open on Saturday mornings, normally one of their busiest days, because of social distancing concerns for her staff & customers. They’re now open Monday through Friday 8-until-5.
They have noticed it has been busier, especially at the beginning when the pandemic shutdowns began. Van Ess Wagner said they are selling a lot of ground beef, brats, and steaks as customers grill-out more often with immediate family at home.
Currently, they have a ten pound limit on ground beef purchases for their customers during the quarantine, so everyone is able to buy the popular meat product.
Butchering at Newton Meats has been very busy, and they are currently booking animals into next year.
