The Clipper City Co-op has reached another significant milestone in its quest to open a community-owned grocery store for Manitowoc County, as they officially hit the 750 owners mark last week.
This number is critical because it represents not only the number of households that have invested a one-time fee of $200 (payable in installments) to be an owner in the co-op, but it signifies a commitment on behalf of that household to shop in the store, once it is opened.
As such, each owner cements the opening and financial sustainability of the store. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the official launch of the fundraising campaign will be postponed, however, the co-op will be actively working on increasing owners, applying for grants and begin conducting a quiet phase of fundraising.
Donations are always welcomed for those interested in supporting the co-op.
