With most of the US and Canada under orders to stay at home, many people are turning to social media for a fun distraction. Taking a Facebook quiz may seem like a harmless way to pass the time, but it could also give scammers your personal information.
While most of the quizzes will ask random and meaningless questions, some whill ask some more personal ones, such as “What is your mother’s maiden name?” or “What is the name of the street you grew up on?” These are common security questions for banking and credit card accounts. Sharing this information can lead to your accounts being hacked, and your personal and financial information being stolen.
There is nothing wrong with taking these quizzes as they pop up, just be sure to never give away personal information on the internet.
The Better Business Bureau, the FTC, and the DATCP are joining forces to help make sure no one falls for any COVID-19 related scams, as they will be hosting a webinar tomorrow at 10:30 AM.
