The COVID-19 pandemic is not really having a major impact on a large-scale Manitowoc manufacturer.
In fact, a management spokesman at Broadwind Energy at 101 S. 16th Street, tells us they’re staying busy in the defense, transportation and power generation segments.
Matt Boor, Director of Business Development at Broadwind, said that more wind towers have gone out recently and that has to do with continued project deadlines for the Spring period.
Some of those turbine towers are shipped directly to project sites, while others are transported to storage yards in Wisconsin or elsewhere in the Midwest.
Boor explained they are considered an essential business during this virus shut down and they’ve had an added concentration of cleaning work areas as a precautionary move for employees.
He says the company is still hiring locally, seeking qualified individuals with skills and a great attitude for welding, painting, fitters, quality assurance and quality control. To find out more you can go to www.bwen.com.
Matt Boor is staying optimistic, saying once we come out of this pandemic, the future is still bright and he reminds citizens to keep an eye on family, friends & acquaintances while practicing social-distancing.
