Scammers continue to try and take advantage of the uncertain times we are currently living in, this time targeting small businesses.
According to a report from the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau, small businesses have been receiving emails, texts or calls from someone who appears to be from the U.S. Small Business Administration or an attorney representing the SBA.
They then offer a grant which is just for small businesses, and after receiving payment for the phony grant, the scammer is never heard from again.
The BBB is warning small businesses to be wary of anyone who calls claiming to be from such an agency, and to remember that if you have to pay to get a grant, it’s likely a fraud.
If you do receive such a call and believe it to be real, you can always hang up and call the actual office, by searching the web for their legitimate phone number.
