The national chairman of the Democratic Party says the August convention will be “as robust as possible,” while being held in “as safe a manner as possible.”
Tom Perez didn’t explain what specific changes might be made for the convention which has been delayed five weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Perez tells the Associated Press he is determined to keep it in Milwaukee.
He says the five-week delay increases the possibilities for the gathering, but he didn’t say how much of the event might be held virtually.
The change creates huge logistical issues for the tens of thousands of delegates, activists, party leaders and media who will be in attendance.
