Manitowoc County now has two confirmed cases of COVID-19 and both patients are quarantined at home.
Many in the community are asking who and where are these positive cases. Travis Waack the Manitowoc Emergency Services Director said his agency can NOT provide specifics due to HIPAA laws.
HIPAA is an acronym for The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and was first enforced in 1996. This Act was created to provide protection for personal health information.
The Privacy Rule is a federal law which allows you certain rights over your personal health information.
Waack says there is a good rule to follow when you make the essential trips out of your home.
He told SeehaferNews.com, “Everywhere you go, every public place you go, every store you go into, you should assume someone there has it, and take the appropriate precaution.”
There will be another daily briefing of the status of COVID-19 in Manitowoc County at 8:05 this morning on 1240 AM WOMT, and on AM 980 WCUB.
On a programming note, WOMT will discontinue the “Air Exchange” Program until Governor Tony Evers lifts the stay at home order. This is for the safety on the entire community.
